Spinney Yarns Ltd, trading as Tcboo and tcboo.shop, is committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking within its business and supply chains.

Modern slavery includes slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour and human trafficking. We do not tolerate these practices and will not knowingly work with any organisation involved in them.

This statement is published voluntarily. We will review our statutory reporting obligations as the company grows.

Our business and supply chain

Tcboo designs and supplies stock, personalised, corporate, event, trade and wholesale textile products.

Our products are manufactured in Leicester, England, using globally sourced materials.

Our supply chain may include:

• fabric, yarn and component suppliers;
• printing and textile-finishing businesses;
• sewing and manufacturing businesses;
• packaging suppliers;
• couriers and freight providers; and
• suppliers supporting personalised and international orders.

We recognise that global textile supply chains can be complex and that risks may exist beyond the suppliers with whom we work directly.

We do not claim complete visibility over every stage of every globally sourced material where that visibility has not been independently established.

Modern-slavery risks

We remain alert to risks associated with:

• complex international supply chains;
• labour-intensive manufacturing;
• temporary, migrant or vulnerable workers;
• unregulated recruitment intermediaries;
• unexplained recruitment fees or wage deductions;
• retention of workers’ identity documents;
• restrictions on freedom of movement;
• unusually low prices or unrealistic production deadlines;
• limited information about material origins; and
• suppliers unwilling to answer reasonable questions about their workforce or subcontractors.

The presence of one of these factors does not automatically establish wrongdoing, but it may require further investigation.

Our expectations

We expect our suppliers and business partners to:

• prohibit slavery, forced labour and human trafficking;
• prohibit unlawful child labour;
• ensure employment is freely chosen;
• comply with applicable employment and workplace laws;
• avoid improper recruitment fees;
• avoid unlawfully retaining identity documents;
• maintain appropriate employment and production records; and
• report suspected exploitation or trafficking.

These expectations apply to work undertaken in the United Kingdom and elsewhere.

Supplier checks

Our approach is proportionate to the size and nature of our business.

When selecting or reviewing a supplier, we may consider:

• where production takes place;
• the origin of the materials supplied;
• whether subcontractors or labour providers are used;
• whether the supplier will answer reasonable supply-chain questions;
• any credible concerns connected with the supplier; and
• whether pricing or production arrangements appear unrealistic.

Where appropriate, we may request information or confirmation concerning labour practices and compliance with applicable modern-slavery laws.

We will not claim that a supplier has been independently audited, certified or verified unless we hold evidence supporting that statement.

Manufacturing oversight

Manufacturing in Leicester allows us to maintain closer contact with the businesses undertaking important stages of production.

This helps us understand where production is taking place, communicate directly with manufacturers and identify unexpected subcontracting or other concerns.

UK manufacture does not by itself guarantee that every globally sourced material is free from modern-slavery risk. We will seek improved supply-chain information as the business develops.

Reporting a concern

Anyone who suspects modern slavery, forced labour, child labour or human trafficking connected with Tcboo or one of our suppliers should contact:

Please provide as much relevant information as possible. Genuine concerns may be raised in confidence.

Where someone appears to be in immediate danger, the emergency services or appropriate authorities should be contacted.

Responding to concerns

Where a credible concern is raised, we may:

• request further information;
• investigate the circumstances;
• contact the supplier concerned;
• require corrective action;
• suspend new orders;
• seek professional or legal advice;
• notify the appropriate authorities; or
• end the supplier relationship where serious concerns cannot be resolved.

Our response will consider the available evidence, the seriousness of the concern and the safety of any workers potentially affected.

Review

We will review this statement periodically and update it where there is a material change in:

• our operations;
• our suppliers;
• our manufacturing arrangements;
• the countries from which materials are sourced;
• identified supply-chain risks; or
• our legal obligations.
