1. Overview
This page explains the intended use, safe handling, care, inspection and repair of tcboo fabric bands.
Customers should also read the relevant product description, sewn label, packaging and any instructions supplied with their order. Product-specific instructions take priority where they differ from the general guidance on this page.
2. Intended Use
Tcboo bands are flexible textile bands designed to fit around suitable sun loungers, deckchairs and other compatible seating.
Depending on their size and design, they may be used to:
- Help hold a towel or suitable cover in position
- Identify reserved or allocated seating
- Display personalisation, branding or sponsorship
- Support leisure, hospitality and event applications
Customers are responsible for checking that the selected band is an appropriate size and fit for the intended furniture and use.
Tcboo bands are not designed or approved for use as:
- Safety restraints
- Child or animal restraints
- Lifting, towing or climbing equipment
- Cargo or luggage restraints
- Personal protective equipment
- Flotation or life-saving equipment
- Medical or mobility-support equipment
- A substitute for any safety device supplied with furniture or equipment
Never wrap a band around a person’s neck, head or body.
3. Before Each Use
Before fitting or using a band:
- Inspect the fabric, stitching and seams
- Check for tears, excessive stretching or loss of elasticity
- Make sure the furniture is stable and in good condition
- Check that the fitting surface is smooth and free from sharp edges
- Keep the band away from hinges, folding mechanisms and moving parts
- Make sure the band will not obstruct furniture controls or safety features
- Do not use a band that appears excessively worn or damaged
Do not fit a band to broken, unstable, unusually shaped or unsuitable furniture.
The band should lie flat and should not place excessive pressure on the furniture or its user.
4. Fitting and Removal
Whenever possible, fit and remove the band while the furniture is unoccupied and stationary.
When fitting or removing a band:
- Hold it securely with both hands
- Keep it away from the face and eyes
- Do not release it suddenly while it is under tension
- Avoid excessive stretching
- Keep fingers away from hinges and trapping points
- Make sure the band is lying flat and is not twisted
- Check that it is secure before the furniture is used
Elasticated products may move quickly if released while stretched. Care should therefore be taken to prevent snap-back towards the face, eyes or another person.
Remove the band before folding, adjusting, transporting or storing furniture where leaving it fitted could create a trapping or damage risk.
5. Children and Vulnerable Users
Tcboo bands are not toys.
Loose or unfitted bands should be kept away from babies and small children because incorrect use may create an entanglement risk.
Where a band is used around children or vulnerable individuals:
- Responsible adult supervision is recommended
- The band must never be placed around the neck, head or body
- Children should not be allowed to stretch, pull or play with the band
- The product should be removed if it becomes loose, damaged or unsuitable
Children’s names, pictures or other child-oriented designs do not change the product into a toy.
6. Fire, Heat and Outdoor Conditions
Tcboo bands must be kept away from:
- Open flames
- Barbecues
- Fire pits
- Heaters
- Hot cooking equipment
- Cigarettes and smoking materials
- Other sources of intense heat
Keep away from fire.
Prolonged exposure to sunlight, salt water, chlorine, weather and repeated washing may gradually affect colour, print, elasticity and fabric condition.
Allow the band to dry thoroughly before storage. Do not store it while wet or heavily soiled.
A tcboo band is not an anti-slip device and must not be relied upon to prevent furniture, towels or people from moving.
7. Washing and Care
Unless different instructions are supplied with the particular product:
- Remove the band from the furniture before washing
- Machine wash at no more than 40°C
- Spin rather than wring
- Line dry where practical
- Tumble dry only on a low-temperature setting
- Do not iron
- Do not dry clean
- Allow the band to dry fully before reuse or storage
Always follow the care information shown on the sewn label supplied with the product.
Washing, environmental exposure and normal use may gradually affect the appearance and performance of textile products. Following the care instructions can help preserve the band’s useful life.
8. Inspection and Repair
Tcboo bands are intended to be repairable by design where practical.
If a seam or line of stitching fails, it may normally be possible for a competent person to restitch it rather than discard the complete product.
Any repair should:
- Use suitable thread and stitching
- Restore the seam securely
- Preserve the intended dimensions and shape
- Avoid creating loose threads or sharp components
- Be inspected before the band is reused
The product should not be used if:
- The main fabric is badly torn
- Elasticity has significantly deteriorated
- The band no longer fits securely
- A repair has altered its intended fit or function
- The product cannot be restored to a safe condition
Where there is uncertainty, stop using the band and contact tcboo.shop for guidance.
