Responsible manufacturing begins with honesty about what a product is, how it is made and what can realistically be improved. We avoid unsupported blanket claims such as “zero impact”, “100% sustainable” or “environmentally friendly”.

Made in Britain using globally sourced materials

Tcboo was invented and developed in Britain. Our bands are knitted, dyed, stentered, slit, printed, cut, sewn, finished and packed in Leicester using globally sourced materials.

We describe them as:

This distinguishes the British manufacturing work from the origin of the fabric and other components without making unsupported claims about the environmental impact of UK production.

Current materials

Our standard fabric contains 85% polyester and 15% elastane. These materials provide the stretch, recovery, print quality, washability and durability required for the product.

We do not claim that the standard product contains recycled material unless a particular product description or quotation expressly says so. We also do not assume that a material is automatically better for the environment simply because it is described as recycled, biodegradable or natural.

Designed for repeated use

Tcboo is intended for repeated use across multiple holidays and occasions, providing a reusable alternative to temporary or easily broken towel clips, pegs and similar products.

Its actual lifespan will depend on use, washing, exposure to sunlight, pool chemicals, salt water, suntan products and storage. Full instructions are provided on our Product Safety & Care page.

Packaging and textile recycling

We aim to use packaging appropriate to the product and sufficient to protect it during storage and delivery without adding unnecessary material.

Because Tcboo fabric contains both polyester and elastane, it should not be described as universally recyclable through normal household recycling. Textile-recycling services and accepted materials vary by location. At the end of the product’s useful life, customers should check whether a local service accepts mixed polyester and elastane textiles.

Where no suitable recycling route is available, repair, reuse or repurposing should be considered where practical.

Future materials

We continue to investigate recycled-polyester yarns, alternative elastane technologies, improved traceability and lower-waste production methods.

Any proposed change must also be assessed for manufacturing energy, durability, stretch, print performance, washability, availability, transport and realistic end-of-life options. These are development aims, not claims about every product currently sold.

Ethical manufacturing

Everyone involved in making a Tcboo product should be treated lawfully, fairly and with respect. Information about forced labour, human trafficking, supply-chain risks and supplier expectations is provided in our Modern Slavery Statement.

Transparency rather than greenwashing

Our commitment is to describe our materials and manufacturing accurately, distinguish present facts from future ambitions and review our statements when evidence or production changes.

Responsible manufacturing is an ongoing process rather than a completed label.
